Can a X5 Mobility Scooter Climb Norfolk’s Steepest Hill? The Gas Hill Challenge
Share
Gas Hill in Norwich is widely regarded as one of the steepest hills in Norfolk — and arguably one of the toughest climbs anywhere in East Anglia. Known for its punishing gradients, which reportedly reach between 15% and 22% in places, it has become a legendary challenge for cyclists and thrill-seekers alike.
Recently, the team behind @TheMedusaProjectThetford decided to put the T-Sport X5 Autofold mobility scooter to the ultimate real-world test: could a compact boot scooter successfully conquer Gas Hill?
The challenge was no easy task. Gas Hill’s demanding incline is so well known that it even hosts the famous “Gas Hill Gasp” cycling event — an intense uphill sprint race that has been running in various forms since the 1950s. Riders battle their way up a brutal 250-metre climb in knockout rounds, with gradients steep enough to push even experienced cyclists to their limits.
Despite the extreme conditions, the T-Sport X5 Autofold demonstrated impressive power, stability, and determination throughout the climb. It was fantastic to see one of our compact mobility scooters being tested in such a demanding environment and proving what it is capable of in real-world use.
A huge thank you to @TheMedusaProjectThetford for creating such an entertaining, informative, and important video.
